Aubrie Sellers recently made her big debut on the Grand Ole Opry, and she's sharing an exclusive video with Taste of Country readers.

The Texas/Nashville hybrid is releasing her debut album, New City Blues, on Friday (Jan. 29). She debuted on the Opry in January, and just hours before her inaugural performance, she filmed the clip above at her soundcheck, taking the hallowed stage of country music's mother church, Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, for a stripped-down rendition of a rockin' track titled "Sit Here and Cry."

She's joined by her guitar players, Adam Wright and Ethan Ballinger, for the performance, which offers a retro-cool vibe, with Sellers clad in black pants and a black fringed jacket. "Sit Here and Cry" is an edgy amalgam of old and new influences, with some rockabilly slant for a very hip take on modern country-rock that she can call her own.

Music is the family business for Sellers; her father is songwriter Jason Sellers, who played with Ricky Skaggs among others, and her mother is award-winning country singer Lee Ann Womack. But her music is a far cry from "I Hope You Dance" — Sellers favors a rough-and-ready approach that her official biography characterizes as "garage country."

“My influences are all over the place: the Kinks, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Buddy and Julie Miller, Creedence, even Ricky Skaggs. Patty Griffin, Neil Young and Bob Dylan, some acoustic things. Led Zeppelin is my biggest rock influence — and that goes right straight, for me, to Ralph Stanley. That raw bluegrass, the banjo, that’s the same energy and intensity you get in punk," she explains. "It’s all music that’s driven, that’s haunted, that cuts and moves.”
