This morning on Jon and Leslie, we talked about a British nutritionist who claims Bloody Marys count as a vegetable - hence are "healthy." So, we decided to go find a really delicious Bloody Mary recipe that's has a local twist and will be totally refreshing this Memorial Day!

Ohio River Bloody Mary

Ingredients
  • 1 (46-ounce) bottle tomato juice (You can be really local and juice local tomatoes!)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning blend, 2 tbsp for glass rim
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 1/2 cups Glenmore/Burnette's (or other local) Vodka
  • Garnish: Lemon wedges, cilantro, pickled okra and/or celery

Preparation
Mix thoroughly - serve chilled.  Rub rim of glass with lime and dip into additional Old Bay. Garnish if desired.

One of our listeners pointed out that a tomato is actually a fruit.
