Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and checked your phone to see what time it is?  Apparently you can go temporarily blind from this... But there's a way to make it easier on your eye sight!

Luckily I haven't had any issues with my eyesight, I've never had glasses or anything, but because I use a computer and my phone so much throughout the day and evening, usually by the end of the night my vision won't want to 100% focus on the TV or something, and I think it's because my eyes are tired.  Maybe I should see an optometrist, but I digress.

But whenever I've woken up in the middle of the night and checked my phone since my eyes are sleepy, I usually squint one and keep the other closed.  APPARENTLY THAT IS NOT GOOD AT ALL!  There's a report in the New England Journal of Medicine this week about two women who temporarily went BLIND in one eye from using their phones in the dark. It apparently only happened because they had one eye covered by a pillow and the other looking at the phone. so the one that was looking at the phone got used to the bright light and temporarily stopped working when the phone was off.

Good news is, no permanent damage was done!

So maybe from now on if you look at your phone in the dark, use both eyes!
