Angel Babcock, Infant Found In Field After Friday Tornado Dies

The little girl found in a field following Friday’s deadly tornado in Southeastern Indiana, has died.
15-month old Angel Babcock died Sunday afternoon at 4pm, at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, after her grandparents made the decision to take her off of life support. The baby girl had suffered traumatic brain injuries in the storm. The family consulted with doctors and their pastor before making the decision to disconnect life-support, saying they did not want her to suffer any longer and that it was time for Angel to be reunited with her mother, father, 2-year-old brother and 2-month old sister.
Angel was the only one in her 5-member family to initially survive the tornado that destroyed the mobile home park in New Pekin, Indiana, where they lived. Her mother, Moriah Brough, 20, father Joseph Babcock, 21, and siblings Jayden Babcock, 2, and Kendall Babcock, 2-months-old, died instantly as the storm picked up their trailer and tossed it into the air.

A neighbor in the trailer park had tried to reach the family as the storm barreled in Friday afternoon. He had tried in vain to save them by giving them a bigger place to hide from its wrath. The neighbor was tossed into a field nearby with the family as the winds kicked up to 100+ miles an hour. The neighbor’s last memory of the family as the twister started to tear apart the park was all five huddled together in the hallway of their trailer, praying and holding hands. The neighbor survived the tornado with broken bones.
A public memorial for the family is scheduled for Monday at 3pm at the Life Tabernacle Church in Salem, Indiana.
Family members spoke to the Louisville Courier-Journal about the family and their loss.
