In my job, I get a fair amount of phone calls. Some people are happy when they call me (when they have won a prize), some are upset (usually isn't my fault) and some are indifferent. The one thing almost everyone has in common is that when they leave their phone number, they say it so quickly I have to listen to it about three times to understand and write down what he or she is saying.

I know most people have caller ID and cell phones usually have the voicemail attached to the call back number but my work/office phone does not. I have the archaic task of listening and writing down your phone number.

In short, if you want me to call you back and answer your question or address your comment - throw me a bone. Say your number slowly and repeat it for me, even!
