For the last 7 years I have crossed the twin bridges to get to WKDQ from my old Kentucky home.  In that time, I've learned several things that I'm sure others who travel from Henderson to Evansville understand!

Bridges Closed = No Work For Me

Be it a stalled car on the bridge, to an accident in front of Ellis Park, or even the infamous barge hitting the bridge, when traffic is at a stand-still over the Ohio, you are out of luck.  When the closest option you have adds an extra hour and a half to your trip, you better just be patient, because you're not getting to work anytime soon.

The Dirty Looks At Your UK Gear

Listen Hoosiers, don't be haters.  Don't act like some kind of invaders have infiltrated your borders.  UK fans are everywhere, and the fact that Lexington isn't that much farther than Bloomington shouldn't make it a crime to see my Wildcat blue polo.

Did It Rain? Might need to alter your route.

The wonderful flood plane of Henderson and Evansville should just be turned into a lake, because that's what it becomes a couple months out of the year.  If Wolf Hills Road in Henderson, or Waterworks in Evansville are in your commute, count on changing your drive to work a few times a year.

    No More Tumbleweed Lunch Breaks

When I moved to the area, there were 2 Tumbleweed Tex Mex Grills in Evansville.  Now there are zero.  I grew up on 'The Weed' in Louisville, and even worked there for a summer.  I frequent the Henderson location on Sundays for Kids Eat Free, but now I look at Bandanas BBQ and Discount Tire in Evansville, and wish my chips and queso were still available.

Do I Go Home Before Going Out?

Henderson certainly has some great entertainment and dining, but let's face it, there are many more options in Evansville, and if that's where your friends are hanging out, you have to join them.  The burning question is, 'do I go all the way back across the bridge after work, or do I just prepare to stay in Evansville.'

Wanting A Second Bridge To Burdette Park

If you've ever driven from Henderson to Burdette Park on Evansville's West Side, you know it takes every bit of 45 minutes, but those who are good with maps know you could almost throw a rock from downtown Henderson and hit the park.  What's up with that?

    Money Saving?

Ron Faupel at Henderson Chevrolet has told us time and time again that the southbound bridge is the 'Money-Saving Bridge,' so does that mean every day I drive to work I'm losing money?  Hmmmm.
