2012 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Award Prediction? – Readers Poll

No category at the 2012 CMA Awards will be as debated as the Female Vocalist of the Year category. The five women chosen this year range from pop to outlaw, with a sprinkle of traditional and a sniff of bubblegum. Kelly Clarkson is a first-time nominee, while Miranda Lambert is shooting for her third straight win in this category. Who do you think will win the Female Vocalist of the Year award at the CMAs?
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are perennial nominees and always favorites to win the award. It’s disingenuous to assume the trophy will go to one of these women, however. Lately, CMA voters have been favoring a more traditional sound. Could that change for 2012? Read our case for each nominee and then share your opinion in the comments section below before voting in the next category.
Kelly Clarkson: Clarkson will perform her new single ‘Don’t Rush’ with Vince Gill at the CMA Awards. Unlike many stars who’ve tried to cross into the genre, fans seem to be more willing to give the ‘American Idol’ singer a chance. They’ll be even more willing after hearing this song. So far, however, it’s been just one radio cut and a couple of duets. Her nomination is premature at best.
Miranda Lambert: Lambert has won the last two Female Vocalist of the Year awards at the CMAs, and she is a favorite to do so again after releasing an album even more complete than the one that earned her the trophy in 2010. ‘Four the Record’ is the best effort from a female vocalist this year.
Martina McBride: Martina McBride‘s new album, ‘Eleven,’ may not have provided her with the radio hits she wants (although ‘I’m Gonna Love You Through It’ reached the Top 5), but it was a very good collection of songs that reintroduced her as one of the most vibrant and talented women in the business. She toured with George Strait this year. No one on this list would turn down that opportunity.
Taylor Swift: If the woman who is in the news the most wins, Female Vocalist of the Year will be Swift. Howeverm 2012 was a down year for her, as she was in between albums. The ‘Ours’ singer still landed a couple of platinum, chart-topping singles and embarked on a tour bigger than any female in the category. It’s difficult to argue why Swift shouldn’t win this award.
Carrie Underwood: Underwood is almost forgotten among stars who tend to make a little louder splash. She will never be a long shot in this category, though. Her ‘Blown Away’ album is nearing platinum certification for one million sold, and she has two big ol’ hits to pad her resume. If she doesn’t win the Female Vocalist of the Year award this year, she’ll win next.
Our Prediction: Make it three straight for Miranda Lambert. The material on ‘Four the Record’ is just too strong to overlook. Remember that Swift’s ‘Red’ wasn’t released until many votes were turned in, so she is resting on songs from her last album to earn her the trophy. Lambert has become one CMA voters like to see win things. She is the every-woman, someone voters can identify with most easily.

Female Arm Wrestler Has a Scream That Will Scare the Pants Off of You
I am NOT athletic at all. So, my tactic to win or at least appear like some sort of competition to my opponent is to look the part or sound the part. This female arm wrestler must have taken a play right out of the Leslie Morgan play book. Rule number 1....make your bark SO big, they won't notice you have no bite!! ;-)
Her scream would scare even the biggest, toughest male arm wrestler!

‘Sad Cat Diary’ Offers Hilarious Insight Into the Mind of a Cat
As, you know, Jon refers to me as 'The Cat Lady' on the air. Just because I adopted my first cat a year ago and have since acquired 7 more, doesn't make me a cat lady. Or does it??? ;-) Ok, I know it would appear that I, if I'm not the cat lady NOW, I am well on my way. In the past year, I have become very in tune with cats and all of their personalities. Maybe that's why I love them so much and they, in turn, are drawn to me. lol
I found a video that gives a little insight to the mind of the sad cat (which is only ONE of their many personalities) Watch, learn and laugh!! It's seriously, hilarious!

‘Koalaing’ Could Be the Cutest Web Photo Trend Yet
Forget (if you haven't already) milking, planking, hadokening, any of those-ings that were internet fads for a hot minute. They've been replaced. They're done. Koalaing -- that's the trick o' the day. It involved clinging as tightly to a pole or tree as possible like a koala. It's pretty adorable. Check it out.
Chris Young Doesn’t Feel Pressure When It Comes to Fourth Album
With a string of No. 1 singles – 'Tomorrow' and 'You' from 2011's 'Neon,' and 'Gettin' You Home,' 'The Man I Want to Be' and 'Voices,' from 2009's 'The Man I Want to Be'-- there are expectations surrounding Chris Young's upcoming fourth album. But as for pressure? Pft. He's feeling none of that.
Remember When George Strait Went to Prison?
It was the wildest show behind bars, and George Strait was in the thick of it for one year in the early '80s. He wasn't the only one. Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Tom T. Hall … they all did time behind the walls of the Huntsville Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Would Keith Urban Return to ‘American Idol’?
Most average people hate their jobs, toiling away to earn a wage and to make ends meet. It is a rare and precious few who get to do what they love for a living, and Keith Urban is one of those fortunate folks when it comes to being a judge on the embattled 'American Idol.' The singer and guitarist wants to return to his seat for Season 13 in 2014 and with good reason.
Deer Goes Crazy After Crashing Into a Bus
I have had my fair share of run ins with deer. Living in the country, it's just a way of life. You must, during the early morning hours and evening/night hours, constantly be on alert and have your eyes scanning the sides of the road.
Once, on a trip back to Indiana from Tennessee, a deer came inches away from slamming through the passenger side window of my car, injuring my son. Luckily, the deer hit the front of the windshield and rolled off the hood of the car. But in the case of this bus, it came right through the window and went crazy!!
